The editing process is one we can discuss and decide together in an initial
face-to-face meeting, phone or email conversation.
The aim is to best meet your needs in terms
of process and outcome.
Process options include:
-
I
edit your work electronically and return amended file/s
-
I
edit your work electronically using the ‘track changes’ and ‘comments’ tools
in Microsoft Word. You then have an electronic record of my work and the
option of accepting or rejecting the changes
-
I
edit a hard copy of your work and return that to you.
Outcome options include:
-
Basic proof-reading (eg. spelling, grammar, cross-referencing)
-
A
more substantial reworking to polish written expression and clarify meaning
-
Proofing/editing plus comments which you might choose to act on
For ethical reasons the work must remain yours and I will take care not to
undermine your authorship.
Project costs vary
depending on the length of the piece of writing and whether it requires a
straightforward proofing ‘tidy-up’ or more substantial reworking. Based on a
discussion of what you require and a sample of the work to be edited, I can
provide you with a quotation for the completed job and an anticipated
turnaround time.
